Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has begun his campaign for re-election and has issued a stark warning about a potential coalition between the Greens and Labor.
He says every resident should be very worried.
“The future of Brisbane is really bright, but if you get the Greens and Labor forming a coalition to run Australia’s largest council, things can go downhill really quickly,” Mr Schrinner told Sky News Australia.
“We’ve obviously got massive growth; we need investment in infrastructure, in roads and in transport; we need to prepare for the Olympics and make sure that’s done correctly.
“Labor needs Green preferences to get elected; the Greens need Labor preferences to get elected.
“They will do deals, and the Lord Mayoral candidate from Labor, Tracey Price, has already talked about backroom people – she doesn’t know what they’re up to – it’s really concerning.”
