One Nation leader Pauline Hanson warns youth crime in Queensland is “out of control” and the state government has no idea how to handle it.
It follows the horrific death of Queensland grandmother Vyleen White, 70, who was stabbed in the underground car park of Ipswich’s Town Square Redbank Plains Shopping Centre.
On Sunday evening about 9.30pm, a 15-year-old presented himself to Ipswich Police Station.
Over the course of Monday, four more individuals, three of them aged 16 and one aged 15, have been arrested.
The 15-year-old taken into custody on Sunday night has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Further charges are yet to be laid.
Ms Hanson expressed her devastation over the stabbing as she argued people have “had enough” of youth crime in Queensland.
“Until we get government legislation that is going to really get tough on these people and these children and youth crime, forget about the detention centres, they don’t work,” she told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.
“Get them into hard yakka, get them out to country … teach them respect and responsibility and feel remorse for their actions and get their parents involved as well.”
