PM determined to push on with ‘Indigenous separatism’: Peta Credlin

The Prime Minister seems determined to push on with “Indigenous separatism” and a treaty process regardless of the result of the Voice referendum, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.

The Prime Minister appeared on ABC’s 7.30 Report program last night, saying the No vote was against a “particular model” and they are looking for “other ways to achieve the same result”.

The latest Productivity Commission report also said governments must share decision-making with Indigenous communities.

Closing the gap “requires governments to relinquish some control over decisions and to trust that, in doing so, they are enabling better outcomes” for Aboriginal people, according to the report.

Ms Credlin said the gap between Indigenous people and the rest of the Australian community comes from a failure to integrate Aboriginal people into the mainstream of modern life.

“Until the Aboriginal people are encouraged to make the most of all the opportunities that modern Australia gives us, they’ll be poorer and less healthy, on average, than everyone else,” she said.
