American journalist Tucker Carlson has released his bombshell interview with Vladimir Putin, with the Russian President revealing his motive behind the war in Ukraine.
The two-hour-long interview was filmed in the Kremlin on February 6 and has been shared on Carlson’s website and on his account on X.
Putin stunned Carlson with a sassy response to his first question, responding: “Are we having a talk show or a serious conversation?” after the former Fox host tried to probe the leader on his reasoning for launching an attack on Ukraine.
Carlson quizzed Putin on a series of heated topics including the subject of who was responsible for the blast in the Nord Stream pipeline, Russia’s relationship with the United States, and detained US journalist Evan Gershkovich.
The Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines – the new energy link between Russia and Europe at the time – were destroyed during Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
Putin deflected blame on the incident and claimed the US was responsible.
“Who blew up Nord Stream?” Carlson asked before Putin responded: “You for sure.” Tucker jokingly replied that he was busy that day however Putin more seriously added: “You personally may have an alibi, but the CIA has no such alibi.”
