Parts of WA swelter as extreme fire danger ratings issued

Extreme fire danger ratings have been issued for several parts of Western Australia – including the Perth Hills area.

A deliberately lit fire in Albany is still burning which has destroyed 6,800 hectares of land since Wednesday.

The capital city is in the middle of a heatwave with parts of Perth reaching highs of 42 degrees on Friday.

Daily minimum temperatures are not expected to drop below 20 degrees so there is little relief during the night.

Similar temperatures are expected over the weekend and daily maximum temperatures are forecast to remain around the mid-30s for all of next week.
