Foxtel CEO takes aim at Albanese government’s TV reforms

Foxtel Chief Executive Patrick Delany has taken aim at the Albanese government’s television reforms, which would give free-to-air channels prime placement on smart TVs and connected devices.

Mr Delany told a Senate committee that customer choice would be undermined by the proposed changes.

“If you are going to put all of the free first, so what happens if I search an overseas news story? Am I going to get everything from SBS, everything from the ABC, everything from Seven, Nine, Ten – everything before CNN and everything else?” he said.

“If I search any of those terms, why is that the natural thing I’m looking for? I’m looking for the content.”
